1 - Starlight Shores

Maia’s first house wasn’t exactly a magical dream home. It was located in a rough part of town, and it did have some meteor damage when she moved in. 

It was also too small to have an eat-in kitchen, much less a dining room. But it was clean, and it was hers. 

Besides, she was a newbie magician now!   She even had a stage name, The Mystic Illusionist! Tada!

To Maia, it was worth it. She could do without a kitchen set for awhile, she supposed.  And tomorrow she was going to start performing in the local park, so if she made some decent tips, she should be able to afford one soon.

But on her first night, someone broke into the place, and stole something she couldn’t do without.

Maia knew where her first week’s salary was going.  The kitchen set would have to wait until she had the toilet replaced.
  

But being so angry about it gave her the extra energy she needed while working out at the gym!

Maia was a natural at magic.  She spent most of her days practicing her tricks, and learned quickly. She could draw a decent crowd performing for tips in the big park.

But success just wasn’t happening fast enough. She didn’t know anyone, and nobody seemed to want to take a chance offering a gig to a complete unknown.

And to be honest, Maia was a little lonely.

Being so intensely focused on her career, she had little time for friendships. Or love. Or the marriage and family she had always wanted, but never had. Perhaps it was time to Maia to stop working so hard and enjoy life a little more.
